diwali dhamaka

as i am sipping chai sitting in my verandah, trying to get a glimpse of the road,i see the skies being lit by a couple of crackers.has india won any cricket match?i am perhaps the most stupid(super talented universal person in demand as my bro calls it)person here.hey c'mon its diwali time.and lets not forget that diwali is associated with lights and crackers.for all those who are struggling to find the meaining of diwali, here is some help form my side.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali.i start thinking about the need of so many festivals(sshh........my bro shudnt hear this.hes loving this culture .......as long as the schools reamin closed!!!)but this is indeed a very serious thought.whether the story thats associated with all hindu festivals is is true or not,the festival time sees all realtives comin
together, making new friends, buying new dresses, trying to gulp up as many sweets as possible.......etc.i feel that the basic purpose of having these festivals mite be this.especially in this modern era where the word "joint family"(if u havent heard of this term b4,u arent to b blamed)has not found a place in the dictionary, these festivals see the realtives comin together, the ladies busy with the preparation of bakshanams(=sweets),the male members trying to extend their 1 day leave to 2,children running about in the houses and pestering the elders for buying crackers(but in the end, they get afraid and its dad who needs to burst them all...........not that he likes it but the fact that the bought them all by his hard earned money!!!!)meanwhile the folks who are in their 2nd childhood stage are happy that they are getting new clothes to wear, telling about their school days to someone(the poor children are always the victim and this is a very tuff punishment, dude!!!!)etc.
the night b4 diwali,we all decide to wake up by 4.00 and we are succesful(actually.......it's arnd 5.30 when we wake up but......i ll prove you that we wake up by 4.00).here goes my proof.....let t1=240 mins(4 hrs) and t2=90 mins(1.5 hrs).since t1>>>t2,t2 can be neglected.thus we woke up at time T=t1=4.oo!!!!this is what physics is all about man.that morning we have a bath in hot water and this is given a special name-"ganga bath".we put on our new clothes and when there are a couple of more cousins with me,my eyes remain glued to their shirts judging as to which one looks better.the children want to go down and burst the crackers, they cant be sent alone.so someone should be sent with them for protection.and normally this beautiful job is taken by(more precisely enforced upon)the elder cousin who must be in his teens.and i think this yr ,i m the one.(wish me luck)after bursting crackers till some time,we go up and have our breakfast.we watch t.v and normally all our houses have only 1 t.v set.so the ratio of t.v:no. of people who want to watch the programmes of their own taste becomes 1:15 .so watching tv doesnt seem to be great option either.so we decide to go down again and continue to burst the crackers.we ignite the "2 shot"sky bomb.............this one goes up and burts twice.it looks good and its quite expensive too.it costs about rs.200.when the bomb goes up in the sky,u can see the children clapping and dancing but i realise how dad mus be feeling................rs 200 gone in 2 sec........poor guy.(no worries dad,i ll repay you........if u r patient enuf to wait for sum yrs)thus like the frog in the poem"frog and the nightingale
" by vikram seth,he is filled with joy both sweet and bitter.(this poetic device is called an oxymoron).thus this festival is all about having fun.and the best part of this festval is that we can gobble up pieces of the sweets as they are being made in the kitchen unlike some festvials like jannmashtami where we gotta wait till god has a go at all these goodies!!!!!!!(my mom makes some great sweets...........yes,u r invited)i only hope that this tradition will continue be alive in the minds and hearts if the billion.but when an indian goes to google search/wikipedia for finding out the meaning of the term diwali,i know its time.but i only hope that such a thing never happens.all librans are known to be optimistic and i m no exception.so ne1 ready with the crackers......then i'm game
